Hondo's story
Meet Hondo!
Hondo is a 2 and a half year old Stafford shire Terrier/Boxer mix. He was turned in to Waukegan Animal Control emaciated, unable to walk and covered with sores. After some weeks in foster care with Canine Cupids, Hondo began to walk, amazing the veterinarians and everyone else who met and cared for him. He is a very determined, affectionate dog.
Unfortunately Hondo stopped walking after a few months and now uses a "walking wheels" cart to get around. Hondo is 95% potty trained, which means if he can be taken outside 4 or 5 times a day he will almost always do his business outside. Hondo needs to be an only dog, no small animals or children as he wants to be the center of attention and is initially frightened of new people and things.
Hondo's adopter needs to be an experience dog owner with the patience and strength to physically care for a 50 lb dog. When left alone, Hondo needs to be confined to a small area to prevent injuries, abrasions and pressure sores, a playpen or large crate is ideal. A well-padded soft surface should be provided. His bedding must be kept clean and dry at all times. He enjoys being outside and loves to go for walks in his wheels. He would do best in a home where he had plenty of human interaction and affection. He loves nothing more than to be talked to and petted by the humans that he loves.
Hondo's adoption fee is $200.00 and is being fostered in Glendale, WI.
Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at /adopt-.html.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think its most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether theyll make good companions based on prospective adopters lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed

its a complex mix of nature and nurture.
